Happy 22nd Birthday to Innovative!

Life at Innovative

We’re very excited to wish Innovative a happy 22nd birthday!

We’ve come a long way since 2001, and so has the world around us. Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

For starters, operating systems have certainly changed a lot in the last 22 years. The newest Microsoft operating system in 2001 was Windows XP. I can hear that old startup music in my head right now.

While computers are now almost a necessity to have in our everyday lives, they weren’t quite as commonplace back then. One study shows that just 56.3 percent of homes in 2001 had at least one computer. That number was up to 92.9 percent in 2022.

How we use computers has also changed. So much of what we do now takes place on the internet, and a lot of it is video-based (shoutout to the convenience of video conferencing). The average internet speed in 2001 couldn’t come anywhere close to handling what we do now.

Of the 54.6 million households that had internet in 2001, 44.2 million of them had dial-up. Quite a far cry from now. Imagine nagging someone to get off the phone so you could read this article. What a nuisance that would be!

Some of you may be reading this article on your smartphone. Such useful little devices, smartphones are. Well, in 2001 smartphones as we know them today didn’t exist. For those who had a cell phone back then, many were rocking the Nokia 3310.

While that phone lacked the seemingly infinite number of features our current smartphones have, it did have some fun games, plus it was as sturdy as a brick!

These evolutions in tech are fun to look at, but they also illustrate just how prevalent this stuff has become. There’s more technology around us than there ever has been and it’s constantly changing. It’s why we’re always reevaluating everything we do. Each day is a new adventure in this industry.

“With 22 years under our belt, it’s still so exciting to see what new opportunities and challenges arise on daily basis,” our CEO Jason said. “It’s what keeps us motivated moving forward as we continue to grow our company.”

Looking back at the past is fun, but at Innovative we have our sights set on the future. While this future includes growing our team and expanding our service area to Washington D.C., it also includes the same great service you’ve come to expect from us.

Here’s to the next 22 years!
